  5. This is the MPEG to PPM converter running under DOS. Its based
  6. on the MPEG-decoder called "mpeg_play" by the Berkeley Research
  7. Group. The basic idea was coming from the PPM-patch by Jef
  8. Poskanzer. Many thanks to both.
  9.  
  10. It was compiled with Gnu's DOS-port of their GCC-compiler,
  11. called DJGCC Version 2.4.1 and NDMAKE Version 4.5. So please
  12. read the GNU-Licence-file 'LICENCE.GNU'.
  13.  
  14. The DOS executable in this distribution is named MPEG2PPM.EXE
  15. and there is a batch-file called MPEG2PPM.BAT for those that
  16. are not familiar with the DJGCC-package. The final extracted
  17. PPM-files can be displayed or converted with f.e. DISP160.ZIP.
  18. They are in 24-bit-format.

  21. SHAREWARE
  22. ---------

  24. MPEG2PPM is inexpensive shareware. If you are continuing using
  25. it after a 30 day trial-period, please send a letter containing
  26. the filled and signed registration-form and the little donation
  27. of 10 $ or 15 DM in cash to the adress below.

  29. The you will receive a PASSWORD enabling you to encrypt the
  30. full-licenced version shipped in the archive FULLMPEG.ZIP using
  31. the command 'pkunzip -spassword fullmpeg.zip'. This will
  32. overwrite the shareware version of MPEG2PPM.

  34. ATTENTION: The dots the shareware version of MPEG2PPM produces
  35. are just delay, to force you to register.
  36.  
  37. ATTENTION: A registration is recommended for commercial use.
  38.  
  39. ATTENTION: The full-licenced version is restricted to a local
  40.            area netword (company) or a privat single host.
  41.  
  42. Please keep me up to date with everything thats new about MPEG
  43. by sending new source-code, utils, documents concerning MPEG-I
  44. or MPEG-II to the e-mail-adress below.

  47. NEEDS

  50. Version 1.1 of MPEG2PPM is now recompiled with a newer version
  51. of DJGCC, the executable is now running under DPMI (so even in
  52. a Windows-DOS-Box), but still needs at least a 386-machine.

  54. The Gnu-environment-executable 'GO32.EXE' has to be somewhere
  55. in the PATH. If running on a 386, the GNU-387-emulationfile
  56. 'EMU387' has to be, where the environment variable GO32 is
  57. pointing to, so if the emu-file is in D:\LIB enter:

  59.   set GO32=emu d:/lib/emu387
  60.  
  61. and then just start the program by typing
  62.  
  63.   MPEG2PPM ifa.mpg

  66. CHANGES
  67. -------

  69. Please do not recommend any big changes or any new versions
  70. of this program. Its working all right, doing its job and
  71. there is really NO need in enhancing it. But, if it should
  72. not work on any DOS-system, please report it with a complete
  73. description to the e-mail-adress below.
